…The very first photograph in this series dates back to 1997. This is a self-portrait in the intimacy of my studio in Berlin. I stand before an open window at dusk. A red light, opaque, surrounds me and obscures my face. This interplay of blurring and sharpness is achieved using a specific focus and it became my modus operandi, although it would take me several years to develop what would become “Entre Chien et Loup”…
